Meet Dr. Tyson Dr. Julia Tyson is a native North Carolinian, having been born and raised in Monroe, NC. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry with Honors and Distinction. She practiced as a general dentist in Raleigh and Greensboro, NC, for several years, but is proud to now call Boone her home. Dr. Tyson spends much of her free time contributing dental services to volunteer-based programs serving our community and military.

Dr. Tyson is currently involved with and serving on several professional boards and committees, including The University of North Carolina School of Dentistry Admissions Committee and the North Carolina Dental Society Committee on the New Dentist. Dr. Tyson is a Tripartite Member in Good Standing of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the NC First District Dental Society. She is also a member of the UNC General Alumni Association, the UNC Dental Alumni Association, Alpha Phi Omega volunteer service fraternity Alumni Association, and Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity Alumni Association.

Volunteer Activities and Community Giving Part of our commitment to the Boone community is through support of local and regional organizations and charities. We have contributed time and/or donations to the Boone Service League, Hospitality House, OASIS, Mountain Alliance, Shelter Rock Ministries Dental Clinic, Freedom Farm Ministries, the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, and the NC Baptist Men Dental Bus. We also sponsor a Dept. of Parks and Recreation women's softball team, named "The Jaw Breakers".

About the Practice Dr. Tyson purchased the practice from Dr. Frank T. Roberts. Jr. in November of 2008. We enjoy caring for Dr. Roberts' former patients with the same integrity and professionalism they have come to expect, and we welcome new patients as we continue to grow. We offer a wide range of dental services, including preventative care and cleanings, crowns and bridges, fillings, root canals, extractions, and a range of cosmetic dentistry options, such as bleaching, bonding, and veneers. If you are in need of the care of a dental specialist, such as an orthodontist, periodontist, endodontist, or oral surgeon, we are happy to help facilitate your care and maintain an excellent working relationship with our local dental specialists.

Commitment to Lifelong Learning Dentistry is a very dynamic health care field, and our practice is committed to lifelong education and continually updating our knowledge and skills. Dr. Tyson and her hygienists and assistants attend many hours of continuing education courses locally and around the country to ensure that we are offering our patients the most comprehensive, highest quality, and most up-to-date care available. Dr. Tyson is also an active member of the Tar Heel Dental Study Club, which is a local group of dentists committed to continuing dental education.
